Wow Whoopi Wow
Whoopi Goldberg had a what I can only describe as a complete mental fart on The View yesterday. Surely she wasn't defending the racist, anti-semitic, misogynist, homophobe Mel Gibson. Oh wait, that's exactly what she was doing...

I am utterly confused here. I think she says he's nuts not racist. She even at the end says "this speech...I don't think he was drunk."
It's in the celebrity handbook, Dave (which you should be getting soon). Page 16, Subsection A. Item 3. A celebrity must defend another celebrity in public, no matter how heinous the first celebrity's behavior or speech may be. (Also see, Money Talks).
I understand her point, which I guess us that actions (embracing her family at her home) mean more than words ("pack of ni****s"), but I disagree with her. His use of that phrase trumps the fact that he was friendly with a black Oscar winners family. He is a racist, violent, mentally unbalanced man. Daniel. I think she was saying he was NOT drunk, he IS and asshole, but NOT a racist asshole. I think.
On a positive note, I think we can assume that Mel's movie career is over.
What?!?! No "Signs 2"? How the hell will I make it through the rest of my life?
Just imagine how Goldie Hawn feels. She was counting on "Bird on a Wire 2" as her comeback vehicle.
