Bye, George

Bad week for Yankees. First Bob Shepherd dies, now George Steinbrenner. Good thing Babe Ruth is already dead.

Condolences, Dave. Now, who is this again? (OK, even I know who it is. Sometimes to make a humorous point one must stretch the truth. With laughter comes pain. It's always darkest before the dawn. Que Sera, Sera. Wait, I think I got lost a little on the way to a point.)

Remember when George Costanza worked for Steinbrenner on "Seinfeld"? It was Larry David who provided the voice, but I don't know who played the back of Steinbrenner's head. Come to think of it, I don't know who played the back of Patty Duke's head in scenes where Patty or Cathy talked to her identical cousin.

Let alone who played the back of Samantha's head when she was playing cousin Serena on "Bewitched." The mind boggles.

On "Bewitched," wasn't that Pandora Spox?

Just a name Elizabeth Montgomery came up with. Not only could she twitch her nose and conjure up magic, she could play two people at once!

Yes, I know there really was no Pandora Spox. Nor was there a "Navckid Keyd" playing the elderly Mr. Dawes in "Mary Poppins."

Ah, the crafty Dick Van Dyke. . backwards. Although I still prefer "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang."

Well, an anagram for his name, anyway. But not much of one, when you think about it.
