30 Years Young

Today is a day that goes down in video game history as it is the 30th birthday of the original Pac-Man arcade game. The version pictured above is far fancier than the first one I remember playing in the back of Mario's Pizzeria back in the early 80's. And no, as far as I know the Mario who owned that pizza joint had no relation to another famous video game Mario.

Luigi's Pizzeria across the street from Mario's though, was in fact owned by the video game Luigi. A very colorful fella, by the way. Really loved mushrooms, if I remember correctly.

I can only imagine how many quarters I pumped into Pac-Man back then, though it was probably less than the amount of quarters I've pumped into NYC parking meters, which is ironic because I don't even have a car.

Now excuse me, I have to go make a few strangers' day by filling up their meters.

Call me Meter-Man!

Hmm, maybe they can make that into a video-game...

Well, Meter-Man, you certainly have had a life filled with pumping. If you know what I mean. Damn, I'm still working blue. Must be spring fever or something.

If you press INSERT COIN twice really fast you get Ms. Pack-Man.

I really like reading your blog. Pretty funny. Been a fan of the Six Pack for awhile. Do you still do live stand up? I would definitely make the drive to NYC to catch your show. Keep up the good work.
