Remembering Bea with Frank DeCaro and Jim Colucci (Author of the Q Guide to the Golden Girls) was really fun yesterday. We told stories, shared memories and took a bunch of phone calls. I was the only one of the three of us not to have met her in person, so I think I enjoyed the reminiscing the most.
After this I will get back to regular posts, but I wanted to put this clip up from yesterday's Today Show, with Matt and Meredith interviewing Betty And Rue about Bea...
Goodbye Bea, tell Estelle we said hi...

I am on the Frank DeCaro show on Sirius channel 109 right now doing a "Remembering Bea Hour." Tune in and reminisce with us...
Golden Finale
I've been reading a bunch of wonderful articles about Bea's life and career, and will write up something myself tomorrow, but in the meantime I thought that posting this clip from the finale of The Golden Girls would be fitting. I remember watching this episode as a kid back in 1992, sad that the show was ending, but happy that Dorothy was leaving the girls to marry Blanche's uncle Lucas, played by Leslie Nielson, another of my faves...

Bea
As I was walking down the street on this incredibly beautiful day I suddenly got a whole bunch of texts about Bea Arthur passing away this morning.
Beyond sad right now.
Obviously, a major post about her will be coming...

Mount Motumbo
The oldest player in the NBA, an 8-time All-Star, 4-time Defensive Player of the Year, and generally really nice guy, Dikembe Motumbo, was hurt in last night's Rockets-Blazers game. Apparently, the injury is career-ending, and this giant guy, who played every moment like it was his last, has blocked his last shot. I mention this because there is nothing like seeing someone, no matter what they do, do what they do with passion, dedication and love. The video below is from back in 1994 when his 8th-seeded Denver Nuggets upset the 1st-seeded Sonics. It was the first upset of it's kind, and his emotions after are just priceless. Check it out...
It's a good lesson in being passionate about what you do and then it never really becomes work. That being said, I have a lot of work to do on my 3-point shot if I wanna make the NBA next season.
Got a bunch of good shows this weekened, if any of you are in NYC, let me know. More tomorrow...

Clowing Around With Racists
Check out this video from today's United Nations (Bogus) Conference on Racism. The man speaking is not a character from Planet of the Apes, but actually the President of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. The people walking out of the conference while he spoke were delegates from good-guy countries such as Australia, Italy, Britain and France. Noted bad-guy countries like Syria and Saudi Arabia stuck around for the whole speech, while the Swiss, impartial as always, just stuck around for the sponge cake.
The chances that there were two clowns in the crowd as this clown spoke has to be pretty slim...

Spring In The City
It was a beautiful weekend here in New York City. I snapped this picture at The Great Lawn in Central Park on Saturday. Since it has been a long time coming for the nice weather, it was probably as packed in the park as I've ever seen. Emma probably sniffed more butts on that day alone than all winter combined.Alright, gotta sweat out the Corona's from the weekend, I shall return in a bit with a full-week of posts...
